Background
There was quite a bit of anticipation as Jon Kaase came into the cell to run his 400M Ford. Coming out of the warm-up period, a timing change brought the score up from that of qualifying, though it was clear that the question was whether it would be enough. Comtemplating whether to increase the fuel, Jon and his crew elected to take the conservative approach and leave the fuel as it stood. Kaase's score was enough to grab the current first place position, though at a score a little lower than the coming competitors had achieved in qualifying.

Final Score - 2406.6 @ 358 CI
Background
The SAM's 351C based combination came in with measured displacement of 358 cubes, using the CHI top-end combination. High hopes surrounded this engine which qualified at the second position. During the finals, a round of bad luck occurred when a tuning change proved counter productive. The team went to either side of the original tune and then back to center during the 20 minute tune-up period, only to reduce score, apparently due to heat soak. The engine is currently in fourth place in the standings, with one more competitor.

Background
Returning champ Tony Bischoff and the BES Racing found thenselves in the enviable position of top qualifier and the last engine to run in the finals. Tony knew the score needed to capture the crown for a second year, and after the warm-up pulls it was clear that it was going to be a race to the end. Tony and the crew worked the timing curve and airbleeds during the twenty minute tune-up period, wrenching quickly to keep the elapsed time to a minimium. The team then let the engine cool for the remainder of the time, and pulled the points for a victory.
